‍“How much does acupuncture cost?” (And Does Insurance Actually Cover It?)

If that is your follow up question after 1st asking, “Does it hurt?"; Well then, great minds think alike ~ right along with your friends' top questions for their acupuncturist!

Your 1st visit is $143 and subsequent acupuncture treatment are $111 @ Vitality Acupuncture LLC. And, here's the most painful answer straight up: We do not deal with your insurance company.

‍

A superbill receipt upon your request by you, can be provided for you to submit to your insurance, that has everything they need to process your claim. Every insurance co. and every plan varies. Though you should not need a referral for a Florida state licensed acupuncture physician with the required National Board Certification by NCBAHM, as we are primary care providers as recognized by the Florida Board of Health, it's never a bad idea for you to confirm your reimbursement coverage with your insurance company, if that is the determining factor for your seeking acupuncture treatments.

Then, if they decide to reimburse you, their paying customer directly - it is never a guarantee but always a happy surprise!

‍

Many people do pay directly for their acupuncture sessions with their FSA or HSA, designated tax-free healthcare money set aside, and your superbill can be provided upon request.

Your Initial Consult & includes a treatment, deducting the is a $77 scheduling fee that is charged and credited in order to confirm and hold your appointment.. The number of your customized Follow Up Treatments is dependant on your individual needs to catalyze your most efficient healing.  Additional therapies, for example, cupping or electric stimulation, do add to your treatment investment, and vary per modality, per supplement or adaptogen, and per Acupuncture Injection solution if that is your prescribed treatment path. There is a Square fee for credit card use.

Our intent is to try to start off with clear, direct communication for best practice and a reciprocally healthy relationship with you;)

Why Does the First Visit Cost More?

Before we get to meet you in the office, we need to learn about YOU ahead of time! Your health history, you as a whole person, and the patterns that have gotten you to the point you are at now! What has contributed to your health and what may or may not be working for you, with you, or against you?

We like to be on the same page with you to determine your realistic treatment goals and expectations, the game plan moving forward, and the 'graduation or finish line' for treatments. So you can get better, feel and function better and maintain your health goals - so you don't have to spend your life at doctor's offices!   Your Treatment plan is individually customized and tailored to your needs required for healing. Then, with the initial few treatments we both learn how your body will respond toward efficient healing, and determine the best path forward; for you.

Why does it take more than 1 visit, aka. more $, to fix your month/ year/ decade long problem?

Your body does the healing. The treatments build on each other, your body adopts the proper way to function, and then go on cruise control. Acupuncture is not a '1 time quick fix'. A few treatments close together aims your body in the direction of healthier and the subsequent treatments build on each other creating a synergistic effect for your body to maintain that health. Acupuncture can shut of the pain signal, the inflammation or inflammatory response that is malfunctioning and switched to 'on', and it triggers the release of nitric oxide for tissue healing. The time it takes to heal is often proportional to the amount of time it took to seek treatment since the onset of your issue. Did your body get to this place overnight? Is it realistic to expect healing overnight? Since acupuncture gets your body to do the healing, the effects are often permanent.

Your job is to notice how you feel. For example, with pain, the decrease in frequency and intensity and duration of pain (is it constant or intermittent?) Notice the evidence of your response to treatments. With pain, when pain goes away for a duration of 9-13 days, that's when you've graduated! You - how you feel, sleep, and function are the best walking hard evidence of your healing and response to treatments.

Does it Work and is it Worth It?

Only you can decide for you, if it's worth a solid try. Sage advice my own kids hear on the regular: "Those adaptogens /nutritional formulas /supplements won't work for you sitting on the counter;)"  As in, if you don't try, (like anything in life), it's a definite no.

‍

It is clinical medicine practiced for 3700 years and well, consistency breeds trust. Can you tell a baby their tummy won't hurt when they can finally poo in a few minutes with just 2 tiny points? Or instruct a dog their back will feel better enough to walk normal? No, and that disproves the "placebo" effect or power of suggestion. There's something to it when someone can't point to the pain they walked in with and if M.D's come to avoid their own surgery to continue to work, golf and play tennis...Or a retired Chicago DEA officer's door kicking drug busting Mafia day knee pain subsiding to the point where he can "do a 3 mile run with no pain for the 1st time in 10 years!!!"

I think the real question is, is it worth it NOT to try? Is it interfering with your sleep or relationships or quality of life - the daily things you enjoy doing?

As opposed to side effects, people notice a good dominoes effect with treatments ~ better sleep, improved metabolism, energy, lighter moods; a more content balance: "I feel more like myself". Sure, you can keep doing the same things you have been doing, expecting a different result. But, wasn't that what Einstein determined to be the definition of insanity?!? ;)

At the initial consult and treatment, you and your acupuncturist determine a game plan with a decided # of treatments to start evidencing your improvement in health, with a finish line in sight, as the effects of treatment are sustained.

With respect to your hard-earned $, IF you see zero improvement in any area for you in your health at ALL after a minimum 7 treatments close together, we will not waste your time and money and will try to point you in the direction of a different solution. Even if you don't come to Vitality Acupuncture LLC, that recommended treatment prescription often yields the most efficient results toward healthier.

All you or any one of your healthcare providers can ever do is try. It's always in the try. If you don't try, how do you ever know that you couldn't have gotten stronger or better or pain free? Do you believe illness or pain or inflammation is a 1 way street? Or that it has to stay that way or worse for you? Are you a robot or a person that has the potential to feel better and heal? Your body and mind can work for you, with you, when given the right tools. Whose responsibility is it to find what works for you?

The Bottom Line:

Since this article is about the bottom line: Is there a better investment than your health, in life? Even if time is your best asset, investing in your health only buys you more time - with your loved ones, not grumpy, able to eat chocolate = protecting your quality of life, whatever that may be for YOU!
