PENNY BOYLAND, BSc (Hons), Lic. Ac., MBAcC
I am a graduate of the International College of Oriental Medicine (ICOM), East Grinstead, (www.orientalmed.ac.uk). My full-time acupuncture training focussed on classical Five Element Chinese philosophy to include understanding and clinical application of Stems & Branches. Also included in the course was comprehensive study and qualification in the Western medical sciences of anatomy, physiology and pathology.
I am passionate about helping people to achieve better health and live a better life. This is really possible with; effective treatment and clear information for my patient; and responsibility and self-imposed discipline for myself. I also view it important to operate with self-respect and reverence for others. All this combined with a good practitioner-patient relationship and amazing results can be achieved - I see it in clinic all the time!
Prior to re-training as acupuncturist, I worked in various areas of the pharmaceutical industry for 11 years. Whilst I have always been motivated by the medical treatment of disease, (hence studying a BSc (Hons) in Pharmacology at Leeds University), I began to question more and more the direction of Western medicine. Once I had found acupuncture there was no turning back!
